To celebrate our upcoming trip to perform at Carnegie Hall, we’ll be turning Alderbrook Resort’s ballroom into a supper-club speakeasy known for its entertainment. Rehearsals for the Great Bend Chorale and Youth Chorale resume on Tuesday, February 12 for our spring term – which is also our Carnegie Hall term! We’ll be singing some amazing music from new composers, including a world premiere commission, and some fun folk settings we’ll sing in the Forest Festival parade! Great Bend Invited to Carnegie Hall!
In the past six years, ensembles led by local conductor Matthew Melendez have received some remarkable invitations. In 2012, the first ensemble Melendez founded, the Anna’s Bay Chorale, was invited to perform Handel’s “Messiah” at Lincoln Center based on the strength of 2010 and 2011 Shelton performances of the work under his baton.
